odds and ends

Finally saw Brotherhood of the Wolf last night. I've been wanting to watch this for a while now. I wanted to see this on the big screen, but I wasn't going to read subtitles for three hours. Anyway, I'm glad the DVD has an English soundtrack. It was dubbed very well. Still, the movie did drag in places. Unfortunately, I don't have a strong opinion either way on this one. It was an interesting mix of genres to be sure. Worth renting to watch once, but after that...*shrugs*

Batman Begins again...

Made this my homepage so maybe I'll remember to add to it more often now.

Saw Batman Begins finally yesterday, last day it's showing around here. I was more than impressed. They were quite faithful to the comic book mythology. And there weren't any "too stupid to live" characters. It's a Must Buy for me when it hits DVD, and I'm really looking forward to the sequel.

Harry Potter and the Next to Last Book

Finished it finally. 600+ pages and it still wasn't long enough. Also left more questions than it answered. I won't mention the ending here in case you haven't read it yet, but I was a more than a little disappointed with it. Hopefully the next book will straighten everthing out but will it be over a year from now before I get a chance to find out what is really true at the end of this one? I hope not. Will the next one be the last? It's been said that only 7 books were planned. Will Harry survive?

back from hiatus...

Didn't seem to keep up with this lately. So just a run down on things.

Found a Norman Bates action figure for my collection;
Bought and now reading the new Harry Potter book;
Been playing and occasionally winning a new collectible card game called VS.;
Haven't been writing much;

My Favorite Shows

My favorite shows this season are Stargate Atlantis, Charmed, Desperate Housewives, Lost, and South Park. Right now my reading is leaning toward quirky writing, so the authors at the top of my current list include: Tom Holt (British fantasy writer, but very funny if you can get his books), Bill Fitzhugh, Carl Hiaasan, Tim Dorsey, and Christopher Moore. I also particuarly like Bentley Little and Scott Nicholson in the horror genre. But I'll read just about anything.

Blog, Blog Who's Got the Blog

Blog's seem to be all the rage this year. Thought I'd try one. Hi, how ya' doing?

Check this book out!

Just finished a great book, and I highly recommend this one if you like a mystery now and then. It's called Monkeewrench, a debut suspense novel by a mother/daughter team under the name of P. J. Tracy. They've just released a second novel with the same detective called Live Bait. I have it but haven't read it yet. If it's anywhere as good as the first one, I suspect I'll be getting each of their novels as they get released. The ending on Monkeewrench is a little cliched, but the journey to get there was so enjoyable, I forgave them. A Must Read.
